This Allied Health Professionals Day we wanted to shine a spotlight on just some of our hard working and passionate AHPs to celebrate their professions and showcase to others the impact they make to the delivery of high quality care.
One of our current candidates, Helen speaks about her experience in her first locum role as a newly graduated Physiotherapist and why she would encourage students to consider a career in Physiotherapy.
Why did you choose Physiotherapy as a career path?
I always knew I wanted to do something in healthcare and when doing work experience in a physio department I loved how much physio was based on teamwork and how rewarding it was knowing you helped someone recover from an injury.
What do you enjoy most about being a Physiotherapist?
I love the patient interaction and the variety from patient to patient as you never know what the next patient will come in with or what their back story is. No two scenarios are the same even if the injury is.
What advice would you give to students thinking of choosing Physiotherapy as a degree?
I would say definitely do it! I love going to work, knowing you are helping people every day is so rewarding. The teams are always so helpful with any questions or issues you need help with also.
How long have you worked for Direct Medics?
I started working with Direct Medics in August, this was my first job after graduating.
What do you like most about working with Direct Medics?
How quick and easy it was to be placed in a job, how accommodating the staff members were, and if you have any issues they always respond with any help and advice right away. Very easy company to be a part of you never feel like you’re left out on your own.
Has Direct Medics ability to help you secure accommodation close to your job placement been helpful?
Definitely, not living locally to Belfast I was struggling to get a post and wanted to start working ASAP but being able to get accommodation in Belfast though Direct Medics opened me up to so many more job options.
Thank you to Helen and all other Allied Health Professionals for their constant hard work and dedication to care especially throughout the recent pandemic.
