Kick-starting our new corporate social responsibility venture, Direct Medics employees partnered with the charity MindWise to help clear out an old workspace previously used to provide a range of therapeutic activities including furniture restoration for individuals, over the age of 18, living independently or in supported housing in the local Mid Ulster community.
The Charity: MindWise
MindWise is a leading mental health charity in Northern Ireland dedicated to supporting & empowering people affected by mental health issues to live their best lives. Their work revolves around raising awareness, providing support and advocating for better mental health services.
Their vision is a world where mental health & wellbeing is everyone’s business and we at Direct Medics are very proud to support MindWise and their inspiring work.
The Volunteering Experience
On Tuesday the 18th of July, six eager Direct Medics staff travelled to Magherafelt and met up with MindWise staff and other keen volunteers at the old facility to transform the workspace back into its original state for the next tenants.
As the saying goes many hands make light work and within a few short hours the team had successfully completed the project.
The volunteering initiative encouraged camaraderie among employees outside the workplace. As they worked together, they bonded over a shared purpose, fostering a sense of unity and teamwork.
The Magherafelt centre will continue to facilitate group work activities including woodwork, furniture restoration, painting, personal development, leisure activities and daily living skills at new smaller locations in the locality.
Our Partnership Moving Forward
This project marks the start of a new and exciting partnership, we at Direct Medics are proud to be supporting MindWise as our corporate chosen charity for 2023/2024. In a world where mental health advocacy is more crucial than ever, we hope our collaboration with MindWise can truly make a difference.
Together we are working on calendar of CSR events from fundraising to volunteering and training programmes. Watch this space!
